MALAYSIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (MMA) CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE (SOP)

  1. All CPD applications must be submitted at MMA CPD System not less than 30 days before the event date; late submissions will not be accepted.
  2. CPD Providers are responsible to regularly update details of the person-in-charge of your organisation in your provider profile.
  3. Postdated applications submitted after the event date will not be accepted.
  4. 1 CPD point will be awarded for 1-hour CPD talk with a maximum of 10 minutes Q&A. Duration for Q&A should not exceed 25% of the total duration of the session/talk (excluding registration and breaks).
  5. Only 1 CPD point is awarded for educational sessions/activities conducted within the unit/department regardless of duration of the event.
  6. All documents submitted in the application must be finalised versions. Do not use “tentative” in file names and no changes will be allowed to prevent delays. If there are any changes, please notify the MMA CPD Secretariat.
  7. Only the provider’s logo must appear at the top of all documents; sponsor logos are only allowed at the bottom. All pharma and medical device company logos are only allowed at the bottom of the page.
  8. Use of any MMA Branch logo or MMA HQ logo MUST have written consent from the relevant MMA branch or office; submissions without these letters of endorsement will be rejected.
  9. Event titles must not include drug/product/brand names; generic names are allowed.
  10. Strictly no product advertisements or launches during CPD sessions.
  11. Do not stateCPD Points Available” on any of the event documents, until/unless the CPD application for that event has been approved by the CPD committee and CPD points awarded.
  12. CPD points will not be awarded for intensive/preparatory courses conducted as part of Master’s or fellowship training, public events, administrative workshops or internal meetings.
  13. Doctors engaged as speakers for public talks may manually claim their CPD points by submitting an application through the MMA mobile app by themselves, accompanied by an invitation letter.
  14. Providers must clearly state the audience in their application (e.g., Specialists, Medical Officers, GPs). Specify if it is for internal doctors only or open to others. Do not use broad terms like “healthcare professionals”.
  15. The itinerary/agenda must include the speakers’ names, qualification and topics. Speaker CVs are not mandatory. MMA is not responsible for any unauthorised or inaccurate speaker information submitted in the application.
  16. Approved CPD events will be automatically advertised on the MMA CPD Mobile App.
  17. Any amended application requires resubmission 30 days before the event date. Please email MMA CPD at the earliest to inform any changes in event dates or cancellations. Do not resubmit same topics as each event has a unique ID.
  18. Doctors attending any CPD events must be registered directly with the organiser. It is the responsibility of the organisers to input the attendance of doctors who attended in the MMA CPD system for automatic CPD point accreditation based on their IC numbers.
  19. The MMA CPD system is integrated with the myCPD system (government doctors). Providers who have submitted events to the MMA CPD system do not need to submit them again in the myCPD system.
  20. Providers should use the MMA Provider App to scan doctors’ MMA App for CPD point accreditation at physical events. MMA Mobile App Scanner Step by Step Guidelines: https://mma.org.my/web/wp-content/uploads/REV_MMA-SCANNER.pdf
  21. In the event the MMA Mobile Scanner option isn’t used to capture attendance, providers must manually upload the attendance list for their events into the system within 7 days after the event. MMA Manual Attendance Upload Step by Step Guidelines: https://mma.org.my/web/wp-content/uploads/REV_MANUAL-ATTENDANCE.pdf

Note: Providers must ensure their CPD events meet with accurate content, qualified speakers, and compliance with current guidelines by the ministry and relevant regulatory bodies. Incorrect or incomplete applications may be rejected, points removed, or the provider suspended.

THIS IS STRICTLY FOR REGISTERED AND APPROVED MMA CPD PROVIDERS ONLY, DO NOT SHARE IT WITH THIRD PARTIES.
